We are responsible for keeping records of births, deaths, assumed names, Concealed Pistol Licenses, filing marriage licenses and many other services. duties and responsibilities

The County Clerk serves as the Clerk of the Board of Commissioners, the Board of County Canvassers, and the 55th Circuit Court, as well as keeper of the Circuit Court Seal. One of the more prominent responsibilities is serving as the Chief Election Official in the County, administering all election functions required by law. Part of those duties include the supervision of all elections and includes the training of all election workers in the County for those communities with a population of under ten thousand. The Clerk is also responsible for the Administration of the Michigan Campaign Finance Reporting Act for those candidates that file for office at the local level.

CIRCUIT COURT RECORDS

If you are looking for a Circuit Court record, public information can be found through the State Court Administrative Office at  micourt.courts.michigan.gov . If you need copies of one of these records please complete the request form found here and email it to countyclerk@gladwincounty-mi.gov .

CONCEALED PISTOL LICENSE

To apply for a Concealed Pistol License (CPL) please fill out the form found here  before coming to the Clerks’ Office located at 401 W Cedar Ave., Gladwin, MI. Be sure to have your photo ID and training certificate with you. Our office is open to the public M-F from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Current CPL holders eligible to submit their CPL renewal application online will receive a renewal notice through the U.S. mail from the County Clerk’s Office containing a PIN.  PIN’s may also be obtained by visiting the Clerk’s Office in person and presenting photo ID.

MARRIAGE LICENSES

A marriage licenses can be applied for within 30 days of the date a couple plans to be married. At least one party must be a resident of Gladwin County and apply in person at the Clerks’ Office. Please have a valid photo ID with you when applying. The cost of a marriage license is $35, it can be picked up three days after applying, and is valid for 33 days from the day the application is submitted. Online applications are available through our Web Portal.

Please note, the cost to correct an error on a marriage license after it has been filed is $175.  Be sure to double check the accuracy of the information when obtaining your marriage license from the clerks office.

VITAL RECORDS

If you would like a certified copy of a vital record, please choose from the list below and email the completed request form to countyclerk@gladwincounty-mi.gov . Please note that birth records must be requested by mail or in person and records less than 100 years old require government issued photo ID.

Urgent requests can be made through our Official Records Online for an additional fee. If you are not sure if the record you are looking for is kept in Gladwin County you may search our records here. Please note that Birth Records are not Public Information and are not searchable through our Database.

A private online payment service is available, for a fee, to those who wish to pay with credit cards. Payment may be made via phone at 888.604.7888 or online via www.GovPayNOW.com. When asked to provide a Payment Location Code use 5073. A notice of payment is faxed directly to the court specifying the time and date the payment was made. The service fee will also be charged to your credit card. Most major credit cards are accepted: Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express.

Board of Commissioner Minutes

One responsibility of the County Clerk is to maintain the official minutes of the meetings of the County Board of Commissioners. Meeting minutes become official once they have been approved by the majority vote of the Commissioners at the subsequent meeting. Current minutes back to 2009 are available on the county web site in Adobe Acrobat format, and can be accessed here.
