In August 2021 the Gladwin County Board of Commissioners created the position of County Administrator. This individual serves at the will of the Gladwin County Board of Commissioners, as the Chief Administrative Officer and Chief Financial Officer. Additionally, the County Administrator acts as FOIA Coordinator and a liaison between other agencies/governments and the Board of Commissioners. Their primary focus is to research and investigate county business and issues and provide that information to the Board of Commissioners. It is the responsibility of the Administrator to adhere to the policies of the Board of Commissioners and achieve the goals set by them.

It is the mission of the County Administrator office to provide effective government services while providing professional, administrative, and quality community service to the residents, law enforcement agencies and other county departments. They are responsible for studying administrative procedures and policy and recommending changes to improve the operations of County Government. Additionally, the County Administrator reviews budget requests and makes recommendations to the Board of Commissioners.
